Robert Schwentke, who brought us Flightplan and the forthcoming Time Traveler's Wife, has been picked to helm Conspiracy of Fools, a feature drama set against the backdrop of the Enron scandal. Sheldon Turner (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) wrote the screenplay based on the book by Kurt Eichenwald. Leonardo DiCaprio is producing, and may or may not star in it based on his schedule.
According to Variety, "The drama revolves around a tax attorney who joins the Houston-based energy company and peels back the layers of greed and fraudulent accounting to expose a financial scheme." Jennifer Davisson is co-producing. Wasn't Alex Gibney's excellent documentary and CBS's second-rate made-for-TV movie enough coverage of this moderately interesting scandal? Fun Fact: If you type "Enron" into the search at IMDb, you get bombarded with pictures of Zac Efron.
