The South Korean pop star Rain seems well on the way to becoming an international film star. Variety has announced that the singer/dancer/model/actor has landed the lead role in the Wachowski Bros' next project, Ninja Assassin.
The Seoul-born Rain, real name Jung Ji-hoon, first appeared in movies in 2007 as the lead in the awesomely titled I'm a Cyborg, but That's OK from director Park Chan-woo. His second film credit will be a small part in the Wachowskis' Speed Racer this summer. Rain must have impressed the Matrix brothers to have landed the lead role in their next pic.
Details about the Warner Brothers picture are few, but it is tentatively scheduled for a four-month shoot in Berlin, starting in March. James McTeigue is likely to direct, previously collaborating with the Wachowskis on V For Vendetta.
