Oscar-nominee Ellen Page has been recruited to star in Sam Raimi's new horror flick Drag Me to Hell. Raimi (the Spider-man trilogy, the Evil Dead trilogy) wrote the screenplay over a decade ago with his brother Ivan under the title The Curse. The film is described by Raimi (via producer Rob Tapert) as a "spook-a-blast." In other words, "a wild ride with all the chills and spills that Evil Dead delivered, without relying on the excessive violence of that film."
Plot details are scarce, but we hear the film features the unwitting recipient of a supernatural curse. No other casting announcements have been made, so Page may just be that beleaguered protagonist.
The film is being developed by Raimi's own Ghost House production company as well as Mandate Pictures (who produced Page's star-making Juno). Principal photography will begin in Los Angeles on March 17th.
