Paramount Vantage has secured the distribution rights (except in the UK) to American Teen, a documentary by Nanette Burstein. The deal ended up being between 1 and 2.5 million dollars.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The A&E Indie Films production follows four Midwestern high school seniors: a cheerleader, a hipster, a jock and a band geek. Vantage may partner with its sister outlet MTV to market the film to a youth audience."
With its nonpolitical stance, narrative-driven plot, and youth oriented theme, insiders saw its speedy acquisition as inevitable.
