Thankfully this is the last big G.I. Joe casting news we'll seen in a while! We mentioned earlier today that Channing Tatum would play Duke in G.I. Joe, which has been confirmed via Hollywood Reporter, along with another surprising casting announcement. Dennis Quaid has been cast in the lead role as General Hawk, the team leader of the G.I. Joe squad. How about that for an age difference? Tatum is 27 years old, and Quaid is 53 - a 27 year difference, but alas, that won't matter in the end, but is there anything else worthwhile talking about now?
In the Tatum casting article, I was questioning who was who and how exactly the characters will play out. We now have some clarification on each of the characters. General Hawk (Dennis Quaid) is the "keenly intelligent and perceptive" team leader of the G.I. Joe squad. Duke Hauser (Channing Tatum) works closely on missions with Ripcord (Marlon Wayans), and Snake Eyes (Ray Park), Storm Shadow (Byung-hun Lee), Heavy Duty (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Scarlett (Rachel Nichols), and The Baroness (Sienna Miller) are all also part of the squad, each with particular specialties. What are you thoughts on this diverse cast? There is an incredibly wide range of actors involved in the film, which could be good, and could be bad. Is this on its way to becoming the next Transformers or the next 80's revamp flop?
