Hugh Dancy (a shoe-in for the "most British name of the year" award) and Krysten Ritter will co-star in the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced Confessions of a Shopaholic. According to THR, "based on the best-selling novels by Sophie Kinsella, the movie centers on a compulsive shopper (Isla Fisher) in Manhattan up to her neck in debt who becomes a financial-advice columnist."
Dancy will play Fisher's editor while Ritter will play her best friend Suze. Tim Firth, Tracey Jackson and Kayla Alpert worked on the script and PJ Hogan (My Best Friend's Wedding) will direct. Is Isla Fisher bankable yet? People who know about her seem to like her, but I'm not sure America's all the way there yet. Then again, the same could have been said about Amy Adams a few weeks ago, before Enchanted made $100 million.
