Sharon Leal Joins Jackson and Mac in Soul Men - SendMeRSS

Written by David Morgan

Sharon Leal (Why Did I Get Married?, Dreamgirls) is set to play Samuel L. Jackson's daughter in the upcoming musical dramedy Soul Men, also starring Bernie Mac. According to The Hollywood Reporter

The film, directed by Malcolm D. Lee, stars Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac as Louis and Floyd, two estranged former backup soul singers for a famed group who reluctantly agree to travel together for a memorial concert at the Apollo Theatre in honor of their recently deceased frontman.
Leal will play Louis' daughter Cleo, who joins him and Floyd on their road trip and eventually becomes a singer for the band.
I've heard Mac and Jackson are doing their own singing and dancing in this film, but I don't know how impressive that'll necessarily be. Back up singers tend to just sway from side to side, snap, and occasionally make a relevant hand gesture for the song.
