A French sales company called Celluloid Dreams is looking to help create a motion picture about the miserable lives of Benito Mussolini's secret wife and son. Variety reports that Marco Bellocchio will direct the drama, entitled Vincere, meaning "to win." It was also a popular song in fascist-era Italy.
Benito Mussolini, Jr, and his mother, a beautician named Ida Dalser, were secretly incarcerated in asylums until they died, some time before Mussolini's execution in 1945. Well, there you have it. Mussolini: Bad father.
Shooting begins in April, though the cast is still unannounced.
