Tim Allen to direct Crazy On The Outside - SendMeRSS

Written by Lucas C Haberstich

Fred Savage isn't the only former star of a '90s TV series getting to try out the director's chair.  According to Variety, Tim Allen will be making his feature directing debut with Crazy On The Outside.

Shooting later this month in Los Angeles, this "adult-themed comedy stars Allen as a parolee who finds life outside a prison cell to be much crazier once he enters his quirky sister's world".  The script is written by sitcom-writing pair Judd Pillot and John Peaslee (a lot of Coach episodes).

In talks to join Allen in the cast are Ray Liotta, Carrie-Anne Moss, Julie Bowen, and Kelsey Grammer.  If the movie is shooting this month, shouldn't they have signed their actors already?

Tim Allen has pulled off a few decent comedies here and there, but this whole project seems tenuous.  We can hope that its independent financing allows it to somehow transcend its premise, allowing the Tool Man to surprise us all with a genius comedy.  Maybe?
