Horton Hears a Who! won the top spot at the box office for the second weekend in a row, taking in $25.1 million. The Fox release was expecting some stiff competition from Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns, but the comedy found a secure second place with $20 million. Horror flick Shutter only made about half that ($10.7), wresting third place away from the Judd Apatow-produced Drillbit Taylor ($10.2 million). This poor showing marked Owen Wilson's second lowest opening, after 2004's The Big Bounce. It's also the second underperformer in a row for Apatow (the first being Walk Hard).
