Jill Culton has signed on to direct Hotel Transylvania, an animated retelling of Romeo and Juliet. According to THR, "Simon Van Helsing -- the youngest in a long line of monster hunters -- falls in love with Dracula's daughter. Upon the discovery that they are enemies, the couple attempt to bring peace between the monsters and humans." Easily digestible Shakespeare for kids = The worst kind.
Kevin and Daniel Hageman are writing the latest version of the screenplay for this film that has been in development for several years at Sony. Culton's previous experience is mostly limited to directing Open Season and working in the art and animation departments on a number of Pixar productions.
