Filmmaker Jim Jarmusch has always worked with talented actors and the writer/director's next film looks to be no different. The stylish director has even called upon a few of those previous collaborators to fill in the cast of his latest picture alongside some new blood.
Shooting starts this month on The Limits of Control, a thriller set in Spain starring terrific Jarmusch regular player Isaach De Bankolé (Ghost Dog). The plot "centers on a mysterious loner as he attempts to complete a criminal job". That's simple enough, and the road movie pace of the film should allow for the series of cameos to flow nicely.
Also returning to Jarmush's lens are Bill Murray and Tilda Swinton of Broken Flowers. Among the newcomers are Gael García Bernal and veteran French actor Jean-Francois Stevenin.
The Focus Features-distributed film is promising star cameos, currently rumored to be making appearances are Javier Bardem, Roman Polanski, and Zhang Ziyi.
I enjoy the Jarmusch and have always enjoyed seeing directors reuse a talented rotating cast of actors, a throwback to the old traveling stage shows of yore. I'll be checking this one out as soon as it quietly arrives at the local art-house theatre.
