Jessica Biel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Justin Long, and Seann William Scott has been cast in New Line's first 3-D CG-animated feature Planet 51. According to Variety, Johnson will voice astronaut Chuck Baker. "Thinking he's the first to set foot on the surface of Planet 51, [Baker] finds it is inhabited by green people who live in an innocent world right out of the 1950s, complete with the paranoia that they will be overrun by alien invaders."
The screenplay is by Joe Stillman of the Shrek franchise, and Jorge Blanco (co-creator of the video game Commandos) is directing along with co-directors Javier Abad and Marcos Martinez. You know that phrase about too many chefs spoiling the broth? It's probably worse when they're inexperienced chefs.
New Line is expecting it completed by March 2009 and the film will hit theaters on July 24th.
