Jonathan Padalecki, star of the CW's Supernatural as well as second-rate horror flicks Cry Wolf and House of Wax, has joined the cast of the Friday the 13th remake in the works over at Platinum Dunes. According to The Hollywood Reporter [brackets my own]:
The remake will focus on the serial killer [Jason Voorhees, rather than his mother], who will wear his now-iconic hockey mask [that did not actually appear in the original series until Friday the 13th Part 3]. Padalecki will play the lead, who investigates what happened up at Crystal Lake.
Marcus Nispel is directing from a script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing.
