One year to go before the “Watchmen” are revealed in all their glory on the big screen. But why wait a year when you can see and hear from Rorschach himself? Check out the brand spanking new image of the enigmatic star of Zack Snyder’s eagerly awaited flick below.
And if that’s not enough for you (and why would it be?), Jackie Earle Haley rang us up just as filming wrapped to give us his enthusiastic thoughts on the production. “Zack [Snyder] did such an awesome job. Matthew [Goode] is just awesome. Malin [Ackerman] was incredible. Patrick [Wilson] is amazing. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is cool as beans,” the actor enthused. “Everybody was just awesome!”
The awesomeness as just begun. While shooting has officially wrapped, much work remains to be done in post-production, Haley said, to more delicately bring the iconic panels to life.
Haley, for one, can’t wait to see what Snyder comes up with next.
“We all want to see this movie. Getting to sit behind that monitor and see shot after shot…it was really looking cool,” Haley exclaimed. “Everything that Zack was doing was just so inspired by the book. All of the elements from production design, to costuming, to makeup - it was looking really badass. I can’t wait to see what he does with it with all the CG work that has to be done.”
Part of that, of course, is Rorschach’s mask itself, a moving kaleidoscope of ink blots that needs to be digitally inserted. Of the mask, Haley said wearing it was “incredibly motivating for the character.”
“It was incredibly confining,” he said. “It was get warm and sometimes fuzzy in there.”
But don’t be fooled into thinking that the entire look is CG, Haley warned.
“There’s a lot of real set work in it,” he insisted. “They’ll stick green screens in here and there to make buildings taller, but I think it’s going to be unique. There was a lot more green screen work in ‘300.’”
