I've been hearing from multiple sources the "big guns," the guys and gals who are the top writers in Hollywood, are hoping to end the strike. How? Many of these writers are also directors, and the Directors Guild of America (DGA) has a deal coming up soon, by the summer.
The writer-directors (aka, "Hyphenates") are hoping to use a DGA deal to force the WGA to cut a deal, too, with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), thus preventing a directors strike and ending the writers strike.
Let's see what happens, if this meeting of the "A-Listers" is happening, and if it'll pan out. But remember one thing: The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) can also strike this summer. Sheesh! Then again, if they strike, the public reaction may be harsh, much like when professional sports stars go on strike.
Updates soon. Source: Deadline Hollywood Daily
