Romero revealed the following to SchlockAroundTheClock:
“It'll be about three weeks in [past the outbreak] and it doesn't start with the people in the mansion [at the end of Diary]. It starts with the blonde who drove away and the national guardsmen who robbed the people. So those are the only characters that return. What it's about is tribalism. How the internet creates a Hatfields and McCoys situation. It's on an island, where people have been lured by someone on the net as a safe haven, but really what these guys are trying to do is hold them up at the boat docks.”
Movieset spoke with Nicolas Chartier, the president of Voltage Pictures, who joked that while the film is yet to be officially titled, it is being referred internally as “Something of the Dead“.
“We’re shooting underwater zombies,” Chartier revealed. “They’re swimming, grabbing people’s legs, pulling them down. It’s a lot of fun.”
So there you have it. A film which takes place three weeks after the outbreak, with a group of survivors fending off underwater zombies on a secluded island. Sounds good to me. Lets just hope its better than Diary of the Dead…

UGO has two new posters for Frank Miller’s The Spirit. It’s amazing how well the marketing department at Lionsgate has been able to promote this movie. You would have no indication from any of the production photos, posters or trailers, that the film is nearly as horrible as the clips presented at Comic Con.
User comment:After comic book movies made all those leaps forward this summer with Iron Man & TDK, it appears Frank Miller & Sam Jackson are ready drag it back down again. Sam, you look ridiculous in those Mickey Mouse gloves. It hurts me to see you clowning around on a movie poster as a character whose face was never seen in the original comics. I'm in serious doubt about your ability to pull off Nick Fury. Is this LOEG all over again? Another cool comic cast through the Hollywood prism and rendered into a garish and distorted funhouse version of its namesake?
User comment:with a comic book dude directing this movie, you damn well better have good design
User comment:Reason why there are two sunsets Jerry B Good, is because there is an explosion in the background of Mr. Jackson
In June, Shyamalan cited the film’s marketing—which exploited the “shocking twist” angle and neglected the comic book plot—along with the middling reviews that followed as the watershed moment when perceptions of his M.O. in Hollywood and with audiences soured. Though the film is still seen as a financial disappointment, it grossed $250 million worldwide, not to mention DVD sales. And if you read between the lines, I think he sees catharsis in making a widely-regarded successful sequel to Unbreakable. Shyamalan’s passion for the film, characters, and the universe he created won’t go away (and neither has its fans’, which includes us at Slashfilm). And in my mind, there’s the guy who made this film, and another who made everything else. He tells Splashpage…
"I genuinely just asked this question the other day — should I make Unbreakable 2? I do love the [comic book movie] genre, I just wanna make sure that I'm able to express who I am," explained Shyamalan. "I don't want to get so lost in the subject that I have to neuter everything that's me in it, so maybe Unbreakable is the comic book thing I should do — I keep coming back to that."
Your Samuel L. Jackson-instincts should inform that the actor would be game to reprise Mr. Glass, and he is. And Bruce Willis has stated his love of the film in the past and disappointment with critics’ lazy checklist with The Sixth Sense. Though inherent, the original film never reveals the full powers of Willis’s protagonist, David Dunn, meanwhile Mr. Glass’s descent into evil has many sinister miles left in the tank. It will take more than wistful soundbites and warm spirits to bring Unbreakable 2 to fruition, not to mention the tentative title, but if Hellboy—financially, an apt comparison; in terms of marquee value and quality, not so much—can warrant a sequel, I don’t think Shyamalan’s is a pipe dream. If he truly wants it. Then again, if the sequel rights are parked at Disney... umm, good luck?
The video below is peculiar.
All that is missing is someone feeding her grapes.
Vin Diesel is returning to XXX! We get this strange scoop from our friends at the movieweb:
Columbia Pictures is in negotiations with producer Joe Roth to develop a new version of xXx, and plans to bring back Vin Diesel as star and Rob Cohen as director..
The third incarnation has a title, xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, but no script. Diesel has agreed to return and so has Cohen, but talent deals won’t be worked out until the studio pact is made. No word on when production will begin.
Well I didn’t expect this news to greet me in the morning!
When I first heard about the plot for the original XXX, I remember thinking “what a ridiculous idea,” fast forward to news of the sequel (with Ice Cube) and I remember shaking my head in confusion. Now we have news of a third XXX film, Vin is returning to a franchise no one cares about, and a role that will only kick additional dirt on the grave of his career. If I were Vin, I would have stayed far away from this one - but I don’t make the rules.
My morbid curiosity however, is in full swing. Could The Return Of Xander Cage be the greatest XXX film to date just by being mediocre? One thing is certain - I will have to have a 3 film XXX extravaganza. During intermissions between films only the music of Ice Cube will be played, it will be an evening of peculiar celebration and binge drinking.
No word yet on when this is set for release, (or if it will even make it to theaters) but we will be sure to keep you posted!
Lance Henriksen and Billy Idol were almost given Terminator roles in James Cameron’s first two films.
"They were thinking of Lance Henriksen for the Terminator, and they wanted Arnold for the Michael Biehn part of Kyle Reese," revealed "Terminator" stunt coordinator Joel Kramer. "And Robert Patrick wasn't James Cameron's first pick – Billy Idol was."
Back when Cameron was figuring out what he wanted for the first "Terminator" sequel, Kramer walked into his office to look at the storyboards. "I was like, 'Jim, these storyboards look just like Billy Idol!'" Kramer recalled. "And he was like, 'Yeah, he was my first pick.' But Billy had gotten into a motorcycle accident and broke his leg, so it didn't work out, because he would have to be in lean running shape."
Lance Henriksen has a very intimidating look about him, and I certainly think he would have made an excellent Terminator. I am glad Arnold got the job, but Lance would have been acceptable.
Billy Idol on the other hand…. makes me wonder what they were thinking. He’s a great rock performer, but why they would trust him for the role of T-1000 is beyond my understanding. Luckily, Billy broke his leg and Robert Patrick got the job. I really liked Patrick’s performance in T2 and stress to think of anyone that could fill his shoes in that one. It was a signature role for him, that is for sure.
The walking stick is a manly accessory. If it contains a secret sword - all the better.
Longoria’s television show Desperate Housewives will be coming to an end right around the time the Marvel comic book team-up is being adapted into a feature film. This has led many to speculate that Longoria might be in the running to play Janet Van Dyne aka Wasp, a founding member of the super team and eventual wife of Ant-Man. But does Longoria have what it takes to be a superhero?
Tobey Maguire is that much closer to signing a deal for the next two Spider-Man films. According to The Times Online, Maguire is willing to shoot Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 back-to-back over six months next year for a record $50 million in salary and profit shares.
The story makes a big deal of a supposed clause in the contract which would give Maguire unprecedented early mornings and evenings off for “family time”. The idea is that shooting two films back to back is an exhausting task, and the clause would build in time off for Maguire to spend time with his 22 month old daughter.
As CinemaBlend puts it, “Tobey Maguire is being paid $50 million to put in half-days at work.” But the gossipy details don’t mean much to me. Pay Maguire $100 million for all I care. As long as he’s back and there is a good screenplay and director behind the production, I will be happy.

You can watch the meet-up from a distance on YouTube. I’ve also included a close-up of Arnold’s hand. Just Jared confirms that Arnold visited the Terminator: Salvation set. As expected, today brings further speculation about Arnold’s contribution, however small, to McG’s Terminator reboot. An un-vetted tipster at Latino Review had this to say…
“…I have varous contacts in WB and from what i’ve been told the fans are in for a treat. The premise of Arnie’s involvement is to have a fully rendered digital face of Arnie replacing the recently cast Roland Kickinger (The Younger version of Arnie). It seems the Director McG will in no doubt try all he can to ensure the Governator has some sort of involvement and as a result Arnold was on set providing key ADR (Voice over) for the visual effects guys…”
The tipster goes on to compare the digital face-transplant technique to James Cameron’s Avatar, so, um, we shall see. Seriously, I can’t imagine how Roland Kickinger—playing the T-800—would feel about this decision, but stranger things have happened. Last month, T4 producer Moritz Borman had this to say to Wired per Arnold’s involvement: “Schwarzenegger is governing California. He will not be, as a person, in the film.” The consensus seems to be that Arnold will do a voice-over, but nothing is confirmed. We’ll update with any developments.
Discuss: Ideally, what role would you like to see Arnold Schwarzenegger play in the first Terminator movie in McG’s planned trilogy? Have you ever used the word “Governator”?
